Saints Row Prequel

A return to past glories could be on the cards for Saints Row, if original designer Chris Stockman can convince Embracer to give the franchise another shot.

Just last month, Stockman made headlines through an interview, in which he expressed his disappointment in the 2022 Saints Row reboot. He also put forward the idea that he could, potentially, spearhead a new Saints Row project.

And it sounds like he's now managed to get his foot in the door. As per a post from the man himself on the Saints Row subreddit, Stockman claims that he's been "asked to pitch for a Saints Row prequel".

"I can't say anything more than that but my dreams for this game just became a little more than just dreams!," he adds.

Of course, it's far too early to say whether anything will come of this hopeful news — but fans of the franchise will be watching on with enthusiasm.

For context, Stockman left longtime Saints Row developer Volition shortly after the release of the series' very first game. In other words, he hasn't been a part of the property for a long time — but he clearly still feels quite strongly about it.

In the aforementioned interview, Stockman mentioned that, if he was given the greenlight, he'd love to take Saints Row back in time with a prequel.

"You’re running around with a crew of teens that ended up as the main characters for the first game. You could really go all in on the 70s theme with big Afros, bell-bottoms, and the music of that whole period," he mused.
